National Reading Week with the Zeiter Literacy Center

At the Zeiter Literacy Center, we believe that reading is not just a fundamental skill, it’s a gateway to
imagination, opportunity, and lifelong learning. That’s why we are proud to participate in National
Reading Week, a nationwide celebration that inspires children and families to embrace the joy of books and the importance of literacy.

National Reading Week is an annual event that encourages schools, families, and communities to promote a love of reading. Timed to coincide with Dr. Seuss’s birthday in early March, this week-long celebration is filled with activities designed to spark imagination and highlight the value of literacy for learners of all ages. 

Each year, the Zeiter Literacy Center brings National Reading Week to life with a variety of engaging and educational activities for our students and community. Local authors, educators, students, and community leaders visit to share their favorite stories. This year, our artist in residence joined the celebration by reading a book and leading students in a hands-on art project inspired by the story, combining creativity and literacy in a meaningful and memorable way. 

National Reading Week is more than just a celebration, it’s a reminder of the critical role literacy plays in every child’s development. Through engaging, inclusive programming, including bilingual readers and ASL interpreters to ensure accessibility for all students, we aim to ignite a lifelong love of reading and empower students with the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
